PURPOSE
A technical bulletin results from the need to provide a clarification, justification, or direction as to when and how West Metro Fire Rescue interprets and applies the fire code in the context of hazard mitigation, public safety, and fire department operations.
From the International Fire Code (IFC):
[A] 104.1 General. The fire code official is hereby authorized to enforce the provisions of this code. The fire code official shall have the authority to render interpretations of this code and to adopt policies, procedures, rules and regulations in order to clarify the application of its provisions. Such interpretations, policies, procedures, rules and regulations shall be in compliance with the intent and purpose of this code. Such policies, procedures, rule and regulations shall not have the effect of waiving requirements specifically provided for in this code.

Policies represent the West Metro Fire Protection District - Life Safety Division’s plan review, inspection and enforcement regulations, practices, principles, and expectations.
Interpretations
Interpretations represent the West Metro Fire Protection District - Life Safety Division’s determination regarding the enforcement of applicable sections of the adopted version of the International Fire Code (IFC) as well as other enforceable codes and standards, and are intended to represent how these issues will be enforced District-wide.
